Leather Rose

For well over a decade, Hannah Lewis and Roy Vucino have been staples in Montreal's music scene, operating in a number of genres from folk to garage punk, electro pop to experimental, and have toured North America, Europe and the Middle East with their other music outfits, Red Mass and Birds of Paradise. Both have written and recorded music for film and television - MGM, MTV, Hulu, Crave, Universal, Showcase and Alliance Films - as well as French luxury fashion house Saint Laurent Paris.

Originally from Nova Scotia, where her love of country music was born, Lewis takes the classic honky tonk themes of loneliness and heartbreak and brings them into the 21st century. In addition to the musical projects with Vucino, Lewis has worked with other notable artists such as Mac Demarco . When she is not working on music, she uses her creative energy as a documentary filmmaker with a focus on the preservation of culture and our natural resources.

Considered an innovative guitarist, whose career highlights date back to the 1990s as a founding member of numerous legendary Montreal bands - The Daylight Lovers, Les Sexareenos, CPC Gangbangs, and PyPy, just to name a few - and his playing has been featured on releases on notable labels like SUB POP, Warner Bros., Last Gang Records, Royal Mountain, Swami, Alien8 and In the Red Records. Vucino has also written songs performed by great francophone and anglophone artists as Duchess Says, Mudie and King Khan

With this collaboration, Leather Rose, takes its charm from the classic sounds of a bygone country era, but adds some dreamy soundscapes with an indie sensibility. This first single features the original “Hurt By The Words You Never Said” and a country rendition of Little Bob and the Lollipops' soul ballad So In Need. Joining them on this recording is Omri Gondor (Hellshovel) on drums and Hugo Joyal on pedal steel.
